I Am Probing Amaechi Same Way Buhari Is Scrutinizing Jonathan’s Tenure – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday vowed
to implement the recommendations of the Justice George
Omereji-led judicial commission of inquiry.
He had constituted the panel to probe the sale of Rivers’
assets and to also look into other matters concerning the
management of state resources by the past administration.
Wike lamented the level of alleged financial crimes
committed with impunity under ex-Governor Rotimi
Amaechi, adding that the criticism against the panel will not
deter him from punishing all those found culpable.
Wike, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media
and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, said he was not the first
to establish a commission of inquiry.
According to him, Amaechi, set up the Justice Kayode Esho
commission of inquiry and added that former governor
Peter Odili appeared before the panel.
He dismissed the allegations that the Omereji-led
commission of inquiry was established purposely to indict
Amaechi, adding that the panel was set up based on the
relevant laws of the state.
“The implementation of the commission’s recommendations
shall be devoid of fear or favour, affection or ill will. The
refusal to appear before the panel is an admission of guilt.
The allegation that the Justice Omereji’s commission of
inquiry is a subterfuge to indict Rotimi Amaechi suffers from
the eclipse of reasoning and poverty of logic.
“Amaechi set up the Justice Kayode Esho’s commission and
when former governor Peter Odili was invited, he obliged
despite the fact that Justice Esho had made some
uncomplimentary remarks about a perpetual injunction
concerning Odili,” Wike said.
Wike condemned the All Progressives Congress in the state
for its position on the commission of inquiry, wondering
why his predecessor did not properly hand over to him.
He said, “The Omereji’s panel was set up to probe the
expenditures made by Amaechi’s government, which is what
any responsible government will do because the taxpayers’
money is not for one man, especially when certain financial
transactions are opaque.
“It is even more important when the outgoing administration
demurred to hand over or when there are no handover
notes. The welter of criticisms by the APC in Rivers State is
actuated by the fear of exposure. It is just hocus-pocus.
“Governor Wike inherited a hobbling economy and a
suffocating treasury. He provided the life-saving machine
and today, the state is recuperating. The sittings (of the
panel) were not done clandestinely and all that was
expected of Amaechi and his acolytes was for them to
appear and prove their innocence.”
Wike, added that in establishing a panel of inquiry, he took a
cue from President Muhammadu Buhari, “an embodiment
of probity and rectitude”, who is also looking into how public
funds were spent under the last administration.

Obasanjo almost fainted the day I shook hands with him -- Alameayeseigha

TEN years after, the anger arising from the impeachment and subsequent imprisonment of former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamie-yeseigha by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration is still reverberating even though Alamieyeseigha claims he has forgiven Obasanjo.

Obasanjo and Alamieyeseigha
Alamieyeseigha, who spoke to Saturday Vanguard in his country home in Yenagoa, said that he had forgiven all those who plotted and sent him to jail purely for political reasons even though the experience remains very painful to him.

The former governor was impeached and removed from office in December 2005 and was subsequently sent to jail for alleged mismanagement of Bayelsa State funds.

Some of his property alleged to have been secured with stolen funds in and outside Nigeria were confiscated and given to Bayelsa State by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) working in conjunction with foreign security agencies.

But Alamieyeseigha, who was granted state pardon by his former deputy governor and immediate past President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, last year, said that Obasanjo has not known peace because of the role he played in events leading to his impeachment, arrest and subsequent imprisonment.

He recalled that Obasanjo nearly fainted the first time he met him after his release from prison. He said the former president, who met him accidentally at the Katsina Airport became jittery on seeing him and managed to shake hands with him. Alamieyeseigha said: “I have forgiven all those who plotted against me, including former President Obasanjo. I know all those who plotted against me and sent me to jail. I cannot be living in the past as it does not help me in any way.

“What I passed through is painful all right but it would not have happened if it was not permitted by God. It is even more important to me that I am still alive today because I passed through many shadows of the valleys of death and still came out of them. ‘’I have met Obasanjo at very close quarters twice since I came out of prison.

I did not know that he was at the VIP Lounge at the Katsina Airport to attend the marriage of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s daughter. Obasanjo came face to face with me at the airport when I went to use one of the rest rooms. It happened that as I opened the door to ease myself, I saw Obasanjo sitting face to face with me and he almost passed out.

“But I held his hands. He was scared and he felt uneasy all through. Then he began to ask ‘DSP, DSP, DSP! What have I done to deserve shaking your hands?’ There were many people there, one of them was Kenny Martins, the then chairman of the Police Equipment Fund.

“I told Obasanjo ‘I was only shaking you for two reasons: one-because of the fear of the Almighty God, who created us and two, for the fact that I am the Ganuma Katsina and you are a visitor to my emirate and tradition demands that I should welcome visitors’. “That prompted Kenny to get up also and greet me, saying ‘great leader, great leader’ and he came and hugged me.’’

The former governor said his second post-prison encounter with Obasanjo took place aboard a Dubai-bound flight where the former president met him seated in the business class and addressed him as ‘Fayose’ out of fear . His words: “The second encounter with Obasanjo was when we met on a flight going to Dubai. When Obasanjo came, I was already seated in the Business Class and he had no choice but to greet me.

But because of possible fear of seeing me, Obasanjo called out ‘Fayose, Fayose, Fayose.’ I protested to him that I am not Fayose and I said: ‘Former President Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo, you are a devil incarnate.’ “I warned him not to talk again or he would face my anger. And I tell you, throughout the flight he could not say anything to me.

The only thing Obasanjo managed to say was to ask me whether I was the only one who had ever been sent to the prison. ‘DSP, is it only you that entered prison

Things President Buhari must do before December

FOLLOWING the mixed views that heralded President Muhammadu Buhari’s 100 days in office, Second Republic politician and elder statesman, Chief Guy Ikokwu, has advised the president to ensure that he leaves unarguable landmarks within the next three months.

Nigerians were clearly divided on the achievements or failures of President Buhari after 100 days in office. Ikokwu said in six months, Buhari must be seen to have addressed a number of issues, he considered to be non-negotiable
Apart from charting an economic agenda and direction he suggested to be known as Nigerianomics, Ikokwu said insecurity and corruption must be fought headlong with discernible results. And the president must get his cabinet in place and avoiding discredited politicians and allies who dominated the political firmament in the last 30 years.

Major
issues

He said: ‘’The president himself has highlighted two major issues: insecurity and corruption. It looks as if it is taking more time than anticipated. The Nigerian public are watching to see if the president as a General can combat the issue of insecurity and terrorism between now and December, 2015.
‘’Most Nigerians believe that since insecurity is a national issue, it must include other zones. No zone on its own can tackle the issue of insecurity and terrorism, which he said are urgent matters.
‘’The canker-worm of corruption is not something that can be cured within 100 days but at the moment, the president has made the issue of accountability his watchword in the sense that all the areas of leakages in the public sector have to be plugged. This has to involve the civil service, trade unions and professional organisations across the country.

Credible ministers, cabinet

The only clue one can gather at the moment even in the face of non-application of the federal character principle in the appointments made by the president, is he has distanced himself a little bit from the previous public officials and political juggernauts and godfathers, who have been in all political parties since 1990, whether they belong to the peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) or any other party or the military as the situation may be.

President Buhari should not encumber himself and his administration with the excess baggage of public officers, godfathers, cronies and perverted politicians and retired devious military administrators of the past era of 30 years. Most of them are still alive, unrepentant and very much implicated in our nation’s loss of over $300 billion causing us such squalor, poverty, ineptitude, illiteracy and ill-health.’’

Diversification of the economy, fiscal federalism
Ikokwu continued: ‘’Although, he has sounded a note that there is need to diversify the economy and we know these cannot be done in 100 days, most Nigerians believe that within this years, the principle of true federalism and decentralisation of the Federal Government will be in accordance with the desire and expositions of our founding fathers like Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Sir Ahmadu Bello.

During this period, the economy was diversified and it was not dependent on oil and Nigeria developmental stride was more than 9 per cent per annum, which means, it is only through true decentralisation and true federalism that we can have better education, healthcare, infrastructure and electricity.

‘’The legislature (National Assembly and states assembly) must begin now and by December restructure the country to fiscal federalism. Since the reports of the 2014 National Conference and constitutional amendment of the National Assembly are now on the table of the National Assembly, it is not a question of starting afresh. The materials are already there.

Economic blueprint:
Nigerianomics

‘’There is no reason all the zones should not be united to ensure that Buhari succeeds. The president should set up a committee that should give the whole country Nigerianomics so that all Nigerians will know wh

Trivails of siblings raped by their dad for three years

At the end of a rugged street in Ikotun area of Lagos, house No 40, a gated storey building stands shoulder to shoulder with other houses, bearing the signs of age and numerous tenants. But in this building inhabited by an elderly landlord, Mr. Sikiru Okunola along with his elderly wife, Bose, and their tenants, one of the greatest crimes a father can commit against his own child, has happened. Pa Okunola and his wife, who were both alarmed when they were hinted about an incestuous act of one of their tenants, summoned his children, 14-year-old Bisi and 16-year-old Biola to confirm from them whether it was true that their father had been violating them. The two girls, who showed signs of advanced puberty, sat down on one of the landlord’s couches. Biola, the fair and the older girl seemed guarded and a little quiet as she sat down in a pair of shorts. Her darker sister, Bisi, on the other hand, sat down with a resolute expression. As Bisi sat with her palms together, wedged in between her knees, she could have passed for any other innocent adolescent girl. Unfortunately, that innocence has been snatched from her by none other than their bricklayer father, Omoyori Adebayo. It all began in 2012, when Bisi was in Basic Five. She has just been promoted to Junior Secondary Class 2. Bisi sighed when she launched into her story, as her demeanour did not betray any particular emotion. This was a story she was dying inside to share. The first time she told this story to a neighbour she confided in, she was told never to tell anybody again. The second time was just a few days ago before our correspondent’s visit, when the case became a family issue. She and her sister were surrounded by unsympathetic family members, who simply told them to let the matter go and forgive their father. Bisi said, “One night when I was in Primary Five (Basic Five), I realised I could not breathe in the middle of the night and I woke up, I saw my daddy lying on top of me. “I first thought it was a dream. But when I realised that I was actually awake, I pushed him away from me. He had removed my pants. I could not say anything. But I could not sleep again. I was so afraid of falling asleep. “Since that day, I have caught him on top of me many times than I can count. He never says anything. When I wake up, I just push him away and he goes back to sleep. I usually tell him, that Daddy, this is an abomination. But still, he continues doing it. “Sometimes I only know he had done something to me when I wake up and feel pain in my private part. Other times, I just know when I see sperm coming out of my private part.” Bisi’s case has become an addition to the rising statistics on child sexual abuses perpetrated by victims’ fathers in Nigeria. Like an epidemic that continues to defy solutions, cases of fathers sexually abusing their children continue to crop up, staring the country’s laws in the face. Adebayo, a Kogi-State indigene, lives in a one-room apartment with his three daughters. He leaves some money for their feeding anytime he goes out to do his bricklaying job. The girls’ mother died a few years ago The youngest of the girls has been taken in by one of their father’s siblings after the family got wind of what was happening. But Bisi and Biola insisted their father had not touched their sister before. Bisi said she and her elder sister could not tell anybody what was going on in their house. But when she could no longer contain the secret, she had to tell a neighbour. “When I told our neighbour, she said I should not tell anyone about it. So, I could not speak out against my daddy. I feel sad that my father sleeps with me all the time. I don’t understand why one’s father would be doing such a thing,” Bisi said. But it seems such secrets do not stay hidden for long. Within the compound, a neighbour, whom the girls befriended was about to send Biola on an errand one afternoon. As she opened the door to their apartment, she noticed the girl

Woman pronounced dead found alive in Aba

…Relations shy to take her home as she’s now mad From Okey Sampson, Aba For many, Mercy (not real name) from an Edo State community had long been dead and buried by her kinsmen. But miraculously she is still very much alive. The story of Mercy is one wrapped up in mystery. Before the mid ‘90s, the tall, dark and beautiful lady was living a normal and healthy live in a community in Edo State, where she was said to be involved in a business with which she took care of herself and members of her family. Mercy, as was now named, was said to have at times travel to Onitsha, Anambra State to purchase some goods which she resold at home. Loved by all, she was reportedly leading a happy and fulfilled life. But one day, according to a report by a lady relation, who pleaded anonymity and equally refused to give the name of their community for fear of in her words projecting them in bad light, Mercy got missing from her home. According to the lady, usually comes to Aba to buy goods, there was confusion in their community as Mercy who was not used to be traveling about except on trips to Onitsha for business, which she did not embark on at that time, could not been seen for days. Confusion then made way for apprehension. Having waited for days and yet their daughter could not be found, leaders and youths of the community set out to look for her. First, the police in the area were alerted on the search for the lady and they swiftly spread their dragnet to see if they could get a clue of Mercy’s whereabouts, but all yielded no fruits. Having been satisfied that finding Mercy was beyond the police, the community decided to look for her in their own way. But the result was the same, there was no trace of their daughter anywhere and they left her case to fate, believing that one day she would come home alive on her own. But that was not to be. In Mercy’s community tradition forbids a missing person to be presumed dead until after a stipulated time if he or she was not found. Within this window of time allowed by tradition, there was still high hopes that Mercy would come back home alive. But as this period elapsed without Mercy being found, the community went into mourning because their daughter had by the dictates of tradition died. So, burial rites were reportedly performed. Although her body was not found, but as far as the community was concerned, Mercy was dead and buried and her name on the community’s register marked with red ink. But years after, in 2014 to be precise, something happened. Mercy who had long been ‘buried’ in her community in Edo State was found roaming the streets of Aba as a mad woman. How Mercy was found The lady, who told Mercy’s story, was the one who found her. She said she was in Aba late last year on a business trip as usual and went to see some of her customers within the Ogbor Hill area of the commercial city when she saw somebody who resembled Mercy. She said two things crossed her mind, either she was seeing a ghost because Mercy who had long been ‘buried’ way back in Edo years ago had not been to Aba before, or she saw someone that resembled their ‘dead’ sister. But out of fear, the lady could not make further enquiries. When the lady went back after that business trip and narrated to her people what she saw, opinions were divided. While some people were of the view that she saw somebody who resembled their sister, others believed she might have seen a ghost, yet another group encouraged her to sermon courage and approach the mad woman when next she visited Aba and sees her. So, on a recent visit to Aba, the lady again was heading towards the Federal Housing Estate along Opobo Road, Ogbor Hill to see her customers. As fate may have it, on getting to Emelogu junction, she saw Mercy coming in the opposite direction. Instead of dodging as she did in the first time, when Mercy approached, she called her by the name for which she was known back home. The mad woman recognised her and stopped. Both ladies greeted themselves and engaged in a lengthy sisterly discussion to the bewilderment of onlookers. After the discussion, the lady gave Mercy some items she bought for her and reportedly told people around that she would take her case back to their community so that her people could come and take her home. But checks by Oriental News showed that since then, nobody as promised has come for Mercy who is now domiciled in front of a disused factory building on Opobo Road, adjacent St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Federal Housing Estate, Ogbor Hill, Aba. When this reporter went to take her photographs, Mercy charged at him, calling him a mad man and threatened to deal with him if he ever took her picture. A resident of the area, John Ndudi described Mercy’s case as pathetic. He said if her people have been looking for her all these while and she was eventually found in Aba, they would have braced all odds to reach her irrespective of her current condition of health. For the relations of Mercy who had looked for her over the years believing she was dead and performed a mock burial for her, she is not dead and may recover from her present state of mind if proper care is extended to her, many in Aba believed.

Two married men raped a 13 year old girl inside an Uncompleted building

Two married men with grown up children have been arrested by the Mabushi police division for allegedly molesting and raping an underage girl in an uncompleted building in Gishiri area. 13-year-old Peace Chinedu had accused Mr. David Sarki, a driver and Chidi Njoku, a businessman, who also live in Gishiri, of violently raping her in an uncompleted building. Peace told our reporter that her mother went out that evening to buy some items for dinner when suddenly, Mr. Chidi Njoku, a father of three came to their house with David Sarki and requested she followed them to see something. She said that initially, she refused, but the men pressured her to follow them to where her mother was. On hearing that, she followed them, thinking that something bad had happened to her mother. “I thought they were taking me to see my mum because that was what they told me, but instead I was taken to an uncompleted building . When I asked them why they brought me there, Mr. David slapped me and asked me to remove my clothes. I refused, but both men tore my clothes. They pushed me down and Mr. David Sarki raped me. I cried and pleaded to Mr. Njoku who was watching, to rescue me but he also removed his trousers and raped me.” She said that after the rape, she felt so much pain that she started begging the two men not to kill her. They promised not to kill her if only she wouldn’t tell anybody about the incident. When she promised that she would not tell anybody, they asked her to wear her torn pants, after which they took her home. “When my mother came home and saw me bleeding and crying, I told her what happened and she took me to the police station,” she said. A Mabushi police source told our reporter that when the victim was brought to the station, she could not walk and was immediately taken to the hospital. “There was blood and sperm stain on her panties with high degree of bruises in her private part. The results of the test proved that the two men raped the accused. We instantly stormed the houses of the suspects who were all family men, but they ran away until the police received a tip-off and they were able to arrest them from their hideouts.” When our reporter visited the police station, Mr. David Sarki agreed that he and Njoku raped the girl. He claimed that the devil pushed him to do so as his wife had denied him sex. When the Mabushi divisional police officer, Chief Superintendent Ayobami Surajudeen was contacted, he confirmed the incident and the arrest, but said the case would be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department.

Cleaner caught with N53M at Muritala Muhammed Airport

An airport cleaner has been arrested with the sum of $271,135 (about N53m) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, it has been learnt. The suspect was arrested by the aviation security personnel of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria while trying to carry the huge sum of money through the screening point. The airport worker, named Mr. Tijani Owolabi, works with one of the cleaning contractors at the airport, according to a FAAN statement. The statement quoted the Deputy General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mr. Onyekwere Nnaekpe, as saying that some of the foreign currency was found on Owolabi while the rest was recovered from the sanitary bucket he was holding while trying to pass through screening machine. Nnaekpe said the agency suspected that Owolabi was conveying the currency to an accomplice at the airside of the airport. The statement by the FAAN read in part, “Aviation security personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria today September 3, 2015 prevented the trafficking of a total sum of 271,135 American dollars through the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja. “The sum was found on a worker with one of the cleaning contractors at the airport, Mr. Tijani Owolabi, during a pat down at one of the screening points at ‘D’ Finger of the international terminal. “The airport cleaner who was suspected to be conveying the foreign currency to an accomplice at the sterile area of the terminal, was immediately apprehended by aviation security staff on duty and handed over to the appropriate security agencies at the airport for further investigation.” The development came barely two weeks after an Arik Air flight attendant, Mr. Chika Udensi, was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency later arrested his accomplice, Oliver Ikechukwu Chibuzor Oliver, an Arik Air catering worker, who smuggled the drug among catering supplies into the aircraft for Udensi. NDLEA and other security agencies said they had increased security surveillance at the nation’s airports, especially the international airports.

Is this enough for me to quit this Affair

I received a ping message inviting me
for a birthday party.
That still voice kept telling me
''NaijaSingleGirl, don't go'' but I
remained adamant.
The celebrant said she was going to
send someone to come pick me up and
take me back home when the evening
party was over. This should be easy I
thought.
First of all, I had thirty minutes to look
for what to wear. It was 5:30pm and the
birthday was meant to start by 6pm. No
African time.
I eventually found a flare mini skirt but
the waist was too large so I tied a scarf
across it in place of a belt. Some
minutes later, I was good to go.
A Keke Napep of all vehicles arrived
with the celebrant brother. A keke is
just a wheel barrow with a sitting area
and it was painful watching all the
swags I had disappear as I jumped in
with my high heel sandals. I would have
turned it down but I didn't want to
come across as a conceited person.
Maybe if I was in a relationship she
would have sent a ferrari. Who knows?
Three minutes into the journey, a heavy
rain began and the convertible looking
keke napep was not spared. I arrived at
the venue looking like a wet chicken. I
was a total mess! The rain wiped out my
makeup, the outline of my bra was
showing and my skirt was dripping
water.
I had to take off the scarf from my waist
to wipe my face.
Then came the sympathies from the girls
that arrived with Limos.
''Sorry o''. ''Eeyah'' ''let's ask the celebrant
for a towel" ''Is your skirt oversized or
what?''
Before I knew it, one of the girls handed
me a camera and begged me to take
them pictures. When I was done giving
them 50 shots, none of them wanted to
take shots with me. Who would anyway
when I was looking like a drenched evil
spirit.
I didn't know worse awaited me.
I stepped into the party room without
realising there was a short staircase so
I fell, ruining a heel from one pair of my
sandals. One of the celebrant siblings
rushed to pick me up promising she was
going to give me a pair of bathroom
slippers before I leave. How
embarrassing could my day be?
I hurriedly limped to one corner and
sat there going through MTN old
messages in my phone. Anything to
avoid everyone's eyes.
The party had a total of 38 guests
inclusive of 36 females and two males.
An all girls party? Eighteen girls to one
guy? Obviously I was going to leave the
party single again.
Oh well...
It was time for the opening prayer.
''You with the red mini skirt, lead us in
prayer''
I turned only to realise the celebrant
mother was talking to me. The celebrant
mother? I thought this was meant to be
an adult party for the 'not so old adults'
''In Jesus name, bless this day Lord'' was
all I could stutter. If I had said more
than that, I would have been weeping.
All I needed was a quiet time with Jesus
so I could ask him why all of these was
happening to me.
Immediately I was done with my
sentence, they started sharing birthday
rice. I've never been to such a brief
party all my life!
Snap, Pray, Eat and Vamoose. Nice one
I thought.
Everyone was served exception of me.
I had to feel my body if I mistakenly
wore my invisible cloak.
At that point I started chewing on my
invisible gum while other guests who
were done with their food looked at me
with pity.
''The girl with the short skirt has not
eaten, give her food''
The celebrant mother told one of her
girls with her Sango voice.
Everyone turned at me.
''I am not hungry'' I lied fighting back
tears.
She didn't pay attention to me. A plate
of rice was shoved into my hands.
Seconds later, the two guys at the party
were headed towards me. Among all the
girls here, they found me attractive.
Hallelujah!
Something to compensate myself for, I
thought.
The first thing one of them said was
''Hello NSG, are you born again? You
think life is all about fried rice & mini
skirt''
I almost choked on the rice.
Apparently, they were from the
celebrant church & I was thinking they
fancied me.
Both of them spent the next twenty five
minutes preaching to me while I was
swallowing my rice one grain after
other. I blamed my short skirt for
putting me through that.
Eventually, a mini altar-call was done
for me there and everyone watched
while I proclaimed Jesus Christ as my
Lord and Personal Saviour.
After all said and done, I was handed a
pair of bathroom slippers and whisked
back into my keke napep.
Why always me?

doesn’t care about what others think of her, then she might
just be in love with you secretly.
2. How does she act when she’s around you? If she is herself
when with others but suddenly starts acting awkward when
with you, then she just might be in love with you. You
observe her playing with her hair, losing her composure, her
hands getting fidgety while you are talking to her.
3. If you find her trying to get your attention always, then
she just might be in love with you.
4. If she goes out of her way to always make you happy,
then she might just be in love with you.
5. You know you are not funny and you rarely make people
laugh but she just can’t stop laughing when she is with you,
she might secretly be in love with you. You observe she
laughs at your jokes even when everyone thinks they are
lame.
6. If you observe her getting upset just because you gave
another girl attention, then she is secretly in love with you.
7. If you observe she loves spending time with you alone
then she is secretly in love with you.
8. She might forget stuffs about herself and what others tell
her but she never forgets anything about you. This might
mean she is secretly in love with you.
9. If you always catch her staring at you, then this could
mean she is secretly in love with you. You would also
observe anytime you get her staring at you, she quickly
removes her face but starts staring at you again the moment
you don’t look in her direction.
10. If she shows way too much interest in things happening
in your life, it could mean she is secretly in love with you.
11. She is always very worried when you are sick and show
way too much concern than a normal friend should, she just
might be secretly in love with you.
12. If you are the person she always wants to talk to when
she is down, lonely or just needs someone to talk to, she
migwith you.
13. If she always defends you blindly all the time, then she
might be in love with you secretly.
14. If you find out she always wants to touch you when she
is around you, it could be a sign that she is in love with you
secretly.
15. If you have taken her for granted several times, and let
her down as a friend and she always seems to forgive you
and stand by you no matter what, she could be in love with
you secretly.

Election Tribunal dismisses case against Kwankwaso

The state and National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal
sitting in Kano has dismissed the petition filed by Alhaji
Bashir Garba Lado, challenging the victory of the immediate
past governor of the state, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in
the race for Kano Central senatorial district.

Dismissing the petition in Kano yesterday, the presiding
judge, Justice Cornelius Akintayo, said the petitioner failed
to establish a prima facie evidence against the respondent
hence the decision to dismiss the case for lack of merit.

The judge held that the respondent was eminently qualified
to contest for the seat of the Kano Central senatorial district.
He added that petitioner’s petition challenging the
substitution of the name of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the
man who had initially purchased the nomination form, with
that of Kwankwaso was untenable and lacked merit.
Akintayo however, stated that the tribunal had found no
incontrovertible evidence to declare the election null and
void, saying it considered the outcome of the Kano Central
senatorial district election credible in the absence of any
admissible evidence to prove otherwise.
Counsel to the petitioner and the respondents had
unanimously concurred that the verdict of the tribunal was
sound and credible and said his client would be fully
consulted on the next line of action.
The tribunal’s verdict was however greeted by considerable
euphoria and jubilation by Kwankwaso’s die-hard
supporters who had seen the futility in challenging the
outcome of the election they considered as free, fair and
credible.
According to an APC chieftain in the state who craved for
anonymity, the petitioner had only wasted his energy and
resources in chasing a wild goose which could not deliver
the golden eggs that were expected.
He said the petitioner was only myopic in his political
calculation given the landslide victory recorded by the
immediate past governor, stressing that the petitioner was a
victim of the new revolution in Nigeria’s po
litics.
But in the words of one of the staunch supporters of the
petitioner, Malam Garba Maidoya, the petitioner had proven
his mettle as a politician worth his onion considering the
courage he had summoned in taking his case to the
tribunal, challenging the outcome of the election.
While describing the petitioner as a gallant fighter, Maidoya
also called on him to remain dogged in the pursuit of his
political interest in future, affirming that his chances are still
bright in the present political dispensation.

National ID card to complement voters card says Buhari

Buhari
By Levinus Nwabughiogu

ABUJA – President Mohammdu Buhari has emphasised the
importance of National identity card to all Nigerians of
voting age, stating that it would in the future complement
the Voters card.
The president who registered on Tuesday at the
presidential Villa, Abuja to obtain his national identity card
urged Nigerians to embrace the exercise.
Speaking to State House Correspondents after the
registration that was supervised by Director-General of the
National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, Mr.
Chris Onyemenam said for the purposes of credible
elections, Nigerians should ensure that get registered.
“I think this exercise is very important to confirm our
population and those who are entitled to vote, that is those
who are 18 years and above. It will complement the
exercise of the permanent voters card.
“So, for those who want their votes to count from
whichever party or constituency, they should ensure that
they and their families are properly captured”, he said.
Also speaking, the DG, Mr. Oyemenam stated that the
exercise has come to stay.
He hinted that about 7 million Nigerians have so far
registered.
“On our data base, we have a record of seven million. In
collaboration with other agencies, in the next three months
or so, we hope to quadruple that number. In the past, the
private sector was expected to perform that role, so
government did not focus on that.
“The close to seven million that we have in our data base is
the product of the pilot scheme that we embarked upon to
demonstrate the value of the scheme.
“Now that the MDAs are going to step up the
harmonisation, the data base will be populated in a matter
of weeks.
“As a matter of fact, we are at the stage of migrating the
data from the Bank Verification Number and that is about
20million.
“We are truly on course and appreciate Mr. President for
that recent directive that biometrics data bases in
government agencies should be expeditiously harmonised.
The DG also assured that designated centres were open for
service to the people, stressing that efforts were being
made to create outlets at the local government levels.
“This exercise is not a one offthing in the sense that there
is no time limit. It is a continuous exercise. So every
enrolment centre that we have established remain open
forever, they are like branches of banks.
“We are taking deliberate steps to ensure that enrolment
centres are opened in each local government.
I”n collaboration with MDAs, we are now extending it to
universities. It will also be extended to primary schools
and hospitals.
“With the cooperation we expect from INEC, we are
meeting INEC today, it will be extended even further.
“Because of the records of births and deaths that are the
primary responsibility of the Nigerian Population
Commission, it will even become wider because there are
more centres for the registration of births and deaths.
“Once a centre is established, it remains there and people
can go their and enroll at their convenient time. They will
do the pre-enrollment first because going to any centre for
the biometric data capture”, he said.

30 Things that are better than falling back in Love

When a relationship ends, we forget that the only objective
available to us isn’t to get right back into another one.
We see a huge, gaping hole waiting to be filled and we a
$$ume that it has to be someone else’s mind and heart and
spirit that must fit perfectly inside of it. That we’ll just be a
little bit empty or a little bit lonely or a little bit undone
until we meet someone new – and even if we’re okay with
that, it’s a problematic way of looking at things.
Because here’s the truth about that hole – it’s there. It’s
real. It’s begging to be filled (spare me the innuendo). But it
isn’t in the shape of someone else, it’s simply in the shape
of what they offered us – be that stability, excitement,
validation or understanding.
There are an infinite number of activities, an infinite
number of projects, an infinite number of ways we could
fill that empty space that someone else left. And so few of
those ways involve falling back in love.
We forget, all too easily, that there’s a whole world out
there to be explored. That there are more people to meet,
experiences to have and lives to lead than we will ever
have time to fully take hold of.
So instead of moping over one measly person in a world of
seven billion, here are 30 awesome alternatives that you
can take on all by yourself.
1. Learn a foreign language. Get a language app or a
conversation partner or a bilingual dictionary and force
your mind to twist itself into a brand new way of
comprehending other people.
2. Move to a far-away country for an indefinite period of
time. Come back when you feel like it, or never come back
at all.
3. Get a motorcycle license. Rent a motorcycle and drive it
around town on the days you want to feel like a bada$$.
4. Get into the best shape of your life. Appreciate your body
not just for the way it looks through someone else’s eyes,
but for the way it feels to you. Learn your new physical
limits, and then push them again and again.
5. Go visit a friend who’s moved away – the one you keep
saying you’ll visit but never actually do.
6. Learn to play an instrument. Devote an hour a day to
practicing and watch yourself improve in leaps and bounds.
Make a Youtube channel if you feel so inspired. Connect
with other artists and work your way into a new
community.
7. Volunteer somewhere. If you’re tired of the world inside
your own mind, start devoting your time to a cause that
doesn’t involve you. Realize that there’s an entire Universe
outside of your house and that it needs your help.
8. Learn to scuba dive or rock climb or paraglide.
Whichever makes you feel the coolest.
9. Become financially independent (if you’re currently not).
Get a part time job and pay your debts down if you have
them. Realize that money doesn’t buy happiness but it sure
does buy peace of mind and that’s a similar concept.
10. Take up Yoga. Become one of those people who
Instagrams yourself posing on a cliff side at sunset and feel
absolutely zero shame about it.
11. Write a book. Write a joke book or a fiction novel or a
memoir. Write the story that’s always been inside of you,
taking up residence under your skin, because we all have
one in us to tell.
12. Go back to school. Get a good education from whatever
school you’re able to go to, without worrying about how far
away from someone else you have to move.
13. Buy a onesie and big, huge mug to fill with tea and
learn to comfort yourself on the nights when no one else is
there to comfort you.
15. Plan your future without restraint. Daydream about
quitting your job to go travel. Speculate over changing your
career on a whim. Allow your imagination to run wild and
realize that there’s not a lot stopping you from making
those dreams a reality.
16. Make a big, huge, glaring mistake. Fall flat down on
your face and realize that you can still pick yourself back
up. That you’re accountable to only yourself. And that you
still have so much time to make things right.
17. Go home and spend some serious time with your
family. Get to know them as people, as adults and as
friends.
18. Go out with friends and stay up until the sun rises. You
have no one to report to but yourself so let the good times
roll and for one night, just don’t worry about tomorrow.
19. Sleep spread eagle across the bed.
20. Pick a topic you’ve always been interested in, go to your
local library and check out all of the books you can find on
that topic. Read them all. Become an expert. Why not.
22. Join a meet-up group that revolves around an activity
you’ve always wanted to try, but haven’t made time for yet.
Make friends who share your interest and let the social
commitment keep you coming back to continue exploring
it.
23. Open up your home to couchsurfers. If you can’t afford
to travel, live vicariously through their experiences and
make friends from around the world.
24. Learn to dance. Take ballroom dancing or jazz lessons
or pole dancing cla$$es. Keep your body moving to
whatever beat inspires you.
25. Redecorate your house, apartment or room. Paint it
that color you never dared to. Buy that piece of furniture
you always had your eye on. Enjoy your space, now that it’s
all your own.
26. Train for a marathon. Then run it.
27. Learn to cook three meals really well. Impress friends
with a rotation of those three dishes for basically the rest of
your life.
28. Identify one thing you’re terrified of and go do it. If it’s
flying, take a flight lesson. If it’s love, express your affection
to somebody. Don’t worry about whether or not it’s going to
work out – just do it for the sake of it, to know that you
have challenged yourself.
29. Practice meditation. Get comfortable being alone with
your thoughts and listen to what they’re trying to tell you.
30. Pick every trait you desire in a partner and cultivate
them in yourself. There’s one person you’re definitely
spending the rest of your life with and it’s you. So make
yourself into one hell of a companio

Buhari Suspends Nigeria Immigration Boss After Terrorist Is Issued Visa

David Parradang, head of the Nigeria
Immigration Service, has been
suspended by President Muhammadu
Buhari effective Friday.

The deputy comptroller general, Martin
Abeshi, will take over while Mr.
Parradang is on suspension, according
to the News Agency of Nigeria and
Premium Times.

While no immediate reason was cited,
the suspension comes just two days
after Vanguard reported that President
Buhari has ordered an investigation
into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The investigation concerns the issuance
of a Nigerian visa to Ahmad al-Assir, a
notorious cleric supporting Islamic
State or ISIS. Al-Assir was arrested
last Saturday at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri
International Airport, where he was
attempting to leave for Nigeria via
Cairo. He was in possession of a fake
Palestinian passport and a legitimate
Nigerian visa.

The anonymous Ministry of Foreign
Affairs official who told Vanguard of
the probe mentioned, “The reported
arrest of the wanted terrorist is a huge
embarrassment to Nigeria and the
president has directed that the matter
should be investigated.”

The official also said that Nigerian
embassies are supposed to keep track
of wanted persons in the country they
service. “We are amazed that such a
high profile terrorist would evade our
radar. This is a major breach that
cannot be allowed to go without
investigation.”

The official furthermore mentioned the
additional concern raised by the fact
that Boko Haram pledged allegiance to
ISIS in March of this year.

Al-Assir had been wanted since 2013
when his followers fought a two-day gun
battle with Lebanese soldiers, killing 18
of them. He was reportedly recruiting
members for ISIS to join the ongoing
fighing in Syria.

Igbo Corper That Converted To Islam Over Buhari Writes Nigerians An Open Letter

I just got a call and this email from
Chukwuma Austin Dike, the Igbo corp
member who recently shocked Nigerians
after he converted to Islam from
Christianity. Chukwuma, (pictured
above), was serving as a Batch C corp
member in Konshisha LGA Benue State
when he made the conversion to fulfill
his Buhari vow.

Chukwuma says he's gotten a lot of
death threats and excommunication
threates, so he wants to tell Nigerians
why he converted. Please read:
Hello Laila, I need you to publish this
for me. It's about why I joined Islam.

OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIANS; Allah
IS MY GOD
ALL CITIZENS OF THE
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
Dear Nigerians,
WHY I JOINED ISLAM
My name is Chukwuma Austin Dike. My
Islamic name is Mohammed Mustapha.
I'm from Mbaitoli Local Government, in
Imo state, a graduate of political
science from University of Nigeria
Nsukka and I am presently serving the
nation Nigeria in Konshisha loc
al
government in Benue state.
The truth is that I have always loved
Islam as a kid in the 80’s in Dakata
kano I played most times in the masjid
(Mosque). I grew up loving the masjid
not until my secondary school days
when I left kano. To me is like a reunion
but to those who saw the headlines,
some said that I am dancing the
macabre dance of religious cross
carpeting, some said Buhari is my God
but I say Allah IS MY GOD.
I join Islam based on CONVICTION and I
don’t care about anybody’s
interpretation; one with God is in the
majority.

The vow: there is no controversy at all
among those who knew me before May
29 except they decided to lie. I made the
vow three times. Firstly, at wanunne
camp in Benue state before some
Muslim corpers in November 2014.
Secondly, early December in my house
before my family members and thirdly
before the staff of the school I was
teaching Government (my PPA) in
February this year. Funny enough
everybody thought I was joking.

What was my vow: Some Muslim
brothers during a political argument
told me last year authoritatively that
Allah has given Buhari victory, no
matter how hard the then president
tries he will not win. I was
flabbergasted! Then I vowed if Buhari
wins this forth coming election, I will
believe that Allah IS THE GREATEST
and I will convert to Islam and serve
Allah as my God. The vow was made
before God and man. Thanks to Allah
that I kept my vow.
On the issue of election and general
politics Nigerians from the age of 18
and above, if u did not experience
anything on the day of the presidential
election and May 29 Handover, you are
either immature or living a care free
life.
On my view on Muhammad Buhari
today, I rather advise Him to retain the
principal of federal character and
totally reject the political theory of
winner takes it all; it is not healthy for
our modern democracy and the
political culture of Nigeria. Corruption
is a canker worm; it’s like a virus eating
Nigeria from the inside it must be
treated like Ebola.
Having said this Mr President I solicit
for general amnesty to all corrupt
officers that will return his or her
looted fund; because if amnesty can be
granted to killing, it can also be
granted to corruption. Furthermore, as
you intensify your fight against
corruption also include tribalism and
religious intolerance.

NYSC should not be scraped but the
allawee should be increased and at
least the sum of 200,000 naira should
be given to each graduating NYSC
member to start a small scale business.
This measure to me will reduce
unemployment, because already at the
camp most corpers had skills
acquisition training. May almighty
Allah grant you Mr President the
wisdom to rule Nigeria, by the special
grace of Allah we shall meet in
Aljanah.
As a Muslim I have received a lot of
death and excommunication threats
but in all I thank Almighty Allah for
honoring me with Islam, my life and
destiny is in the hand of Allah.
SALAM.

Dike

President Muhammadu Buhari never
said he would declare his assets
publicly, his party the All Progressives

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu
Buhari had promised to declare his

promise he has failed to keep.
